David Hildred – crew

Mr. Hildred is English, but also an Australian resident. He has lived and worked abroad since the mid 1970s. He spent many years working in the Middle Eastern hotspots under difficult conditions.
He has also visited, lived, explored or worked in many other parts of the world. His trips are sometimes unconventional; for instance he has traveled down the headwaters of the Amazon for 500 miles by dugout canoe and traveled the full length of that river by one means or another.
He is a keen hot air balloonist.
At 57 he is is good health, he runs regularly and has reached an advanced level in Pilates.

On An-Tiki he will be the Sailing Master. Mr. Hildred has sailed since first learning in the mid 1970s in the Persian Gulf. In the late 1970s he commissioned the design and construction of a 38 foot sail boat to his own specification. This became home for 25 years. During that time he logged some 15,000 sea miles, including crossing from the Canaries to the Caribbean in 1987.

He lives, with his wife Trish, in the British Virgin Islands where he works as a consultant Civil Engineer. They still travel a lot….. and still live on a boat !
